Maddie Gumm
Owen Lamer, a senior at Taylor County High School, has been accepted to become a Midshipman at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis following his graduation from TCHS this spring.
On January 14, 2026, United States Congressman James Comer (KY-1) contacted Lamer and congratulated him on this high honor, which he also nominated him for.
Lamer has been an integral part of the Taylor County Wrestling program at the youth, middle school, and high school levels. He shared that his decision to apply to a Service Academy was driven by the opportunity to receive a world-class education while serving his country. He chose the Naval Academy with the goal of commissioning as a United States Marine Corps officer and pursuing a career in Special Warfare.
